Just patched in the custom frontpage feature, which allows you to create your own custom news feeds. Check it out!.


UPDATE: Oversaw a nasty bug and had to roll back database to the last backup, which was 6 hours ago. This means that any custom feeds that were created in that time will need to be created again. Sorry :)

I just got done implementing the Kwarsh News Watch feature. It collects MMORPG news feeds - for all the games currently in the kwarsh directory - from all over the web.

Basically it fetches the news from a select group of sites for each game and categorizes them. This allows you to quickly have an overview over the news from multiple sites targeting your game of choice. And since it is all categorized and feeds can be requested in the RSS format this could turn out to be a big time saver for everyone who wants to stay up to date on fresh MMORPG news.

Note that the frontpage looks a bit spammy right now with 20 entries for the same game in a row, this is because it fetched a bunch of not so recent news (up to 30 days old) for all the games. However, this issue should clear up over the next couple days and should provide some real neat functionality then.

I re-designed the search engine so that it works more like a normal search engine. That means instead of separating search terms via comma you can now separate them via space. In order to search for word strings simply put the words inside quotes as you would do when using google.

I hope that this will make searching the kwarsh database more accessible for you.

Kwarsh.net is in the process of becoming a more news centric site, i want it to be like a middle man between you and the gazillion mmorpg news sites that are out there.

You can now submit image links to the directory. An image link is a link to a website holding an image you would like to share with the community. A thumbnail will be automatically created if at all possible. Please not that we do respect the copyright and work of others and will only link to the actual page that holds the image and never to the image itself.

We're aware the there are currently search engine issues related to special characters such as quotes. The fix for this is already finished and will be patched in tonight. =)

Everquest 2 was added to the directory

Title and description search should now be a lot more precise. It's still a tag based search, but it now also searches for word connections in the entries.

Let us know if you find any bugs with the updated search engine btw, we tested it, but no testing is as good as yours =)

The next thing that will be added to the search engine are some search options, such as the ability to turn off the deep search (title & description & actual tags)

Vanguard has now been added to the directory, mainly because i had a ton of screenshots to fill the gallery with. I am adding guide links to the database as we speak.
